TOP UK PLACES TO VISIT THIS SUMMER
Summer is finally in full swing! With the welcome return of warm weather, long days and so much to see across the UK, it’s time to embrace this golden opportunity to get out and about in style. We’ve packed in some of the must-see events this summer, as well as tips and tricks on what to pack for each trip. So, without any further ado, grab your LK Bennett summer dress, Ray-Ban aviators, Ralph Lauren polo shirt & get ready to hit the road!
BEST FOR HISTORY - YORK
One of England's most historic cities, York is jam-packed with Roman roots, a fascinating Viking heritage, a stunning minster and one of the best-preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe - The Shambles. Make sure to visit all the unique, independent shops down here - it really is like travelling back in time.
Ensure that you walk the city walls too (it's free) - they're the most complete example of medieval city walls still standing in England today. York is a goldmine for all you history and culture buffs!

A smart casual look is perfect for traversing the wonders of this ancient, fascinating city. For the ladies, keeping things practical yet still stylish comes in the form of a cute pair of Levi’s white jeans and a light, colourful top by Ted Baker or Conquista. BEST FOR MUSIC - LEEDS & READING FESTIVALS (26th - 28th August)
Summertime is festival time! Feel the vibes at the end of August by seeing your favourite acts perform live at either Reading or Leeds festival - a late-summer tradition in the UK. The perfect way to spend the late summer bank holiday and see out the summer with a bang.
This year, confirmed acts include Arctic Monkeys, Halsey, Rage Against The Machine, Dave and Wolf Alice. If you missed Glastonbury, either of these festivals is the perfect opportunity to witness world-class live music in (hopefully) fantastic weather.
WHAT TO WEAR
Keep things casual at the festivals by choosing loose-fitting clothing full of colour! If you're planning on camping, keeping a Superdry coat or Regatta waterproof jacket on hand is a wise idea to dodge those pesky late-summer showers.
You can't go wrong with a pair of designer shades when the sun's out. Rocking a pair of Ray-Ban aviators or Guess women's sunglasses is a great way to reduce the sun's glare so you can focus on the bands. For a cool summer look, a short-sleeved Pink Vanilla top is bright and stylish for the ladies, whilst for the guys, a Hype t-shirt combined with a pair of Converse trainers is perfect for taking to the field.
BEST FOR CULTURE - EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE (5th - 29th August)
No British summer is complete without a trip to the Edinburgh Fringe. The much-heralded training ground for world-famous stand-up comedians boasts a roster of performers who began their trade here, including Graham Norton, Rowan Atkinson, Noel Fielding and Steve Coogan.
If you're into culture, this historic city is a melting pot of theatre, comedy, dance, opera, and music. Make sure to lap up every moment of this 24-day event - die-hard fans make an annual pilgrimage to this unique festival. Ensure you sample the mouth-watering food and drink on offer, much of which has been prepared by top chefs.
WHAT TO WEAR
Forget muddy fields and camping out for the night; the Edinburgh Fringe isn’t your traditional festival. So ditch the wellies and flower headbands and instead pack a bag to help you traverse the streets of Edinburgh in style. Of course, a pair of sturdy walking shoes or Chelsea boots are a must to keep your feet both comfortable and stylish. Cotswold, Goodwin Smith and Redfoot offer an excellent choice from these categories.
A pair of bootcut Roberto Cavalli jeans is ideal for strolling around the city, as is a cool summer blouse by Rag & Bone. Think smart yet casual and comfortable. Keeping a lightweight padded Regatta jacket on hand is also a good idea. Be prepared for all weathers, despite it being high summer!
BEST FOR SURFING - CORNWALL
The ‘surf capital’ of the UK, Cornwall is the best place to be this summer if you want to ride some serious waves! Cornwall’s prime location for surfing means it benefits from the Atlantic Ocean swell and gorgeous beaches up and down the coastline. Fistral Beach and Polzeath Beach are just two of the countless prime spots for surfing that we recommend trying your hand at (or should we say feet?!).
Almost every beach in Cornwall is accessible for you to surf, so take the time to explore this beautiful county. Don’t forget to grab an authentic cornish pasty whilst you’re there, and try some scones, Cornish style (that’s jam first, then cream, rather than in neighbouring Devon where it’s the other way around!).
WHAT TO WEAR
It may be summer, but the sea surrounding the UK still only averages around 15C in August, which means you’ll likely want to grab a wetsuit for some extra protection from the elements.
